The Jyllandsringen, also known as FDM Jyllands-Ringen , is a counterclockwise motorsport racing track around nine kilometers east of Silkeborg in the middle of the Danish region of Midtjylland .
history
The motorsport facility was built in three sections from 1965 by the architect SK Jensen and the Danish racing driver and restaurateur Ole Hansen . The first variant was 1701 meters long. On May 15, 1966, the first race was held on this track. There has been a lot of criticism that the circuit has too many curves; therefore the route was changed in 1967. In 2003 the route was merged with the neighboring oval course . Since then, the entire route is around 2,300 meters long and has 20 bends.
The race track can be divided into two short versions: the first short version is 1.45 kilometers long and 20 meters wide at the widest point, the second short version is 900 meters long and 12 meters wide at the widest point. With both variants it is possible to leave out chicanes in order to enable different routes.
In 1974 the circuit was bought by the Danish Automobile Club (Forenede Danske Motorejere, FDM), which is the operator to this day. From 1974 to 1977, and for the last time in 1995, the track was the venue for the Danish Grand Prix , which was held with Formula 3 racing cars. Jac Nelleman won the Grand Prix four times in a row, with Toni Teittinen from Finland winning the last race .
The track was used as a venue for races for the Danish Touring Car Championship from 1999 to 2010 and events for the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship and Formula Renault races have been held since 2011 .
