The Danish Touringcar Championship ( DTC for short ) is the national touring car championship in Denmark . It was held for the first time in 1999. In the DTC, the Super 2000 rules are used.
Most of the races are held on Danish racetracks, with the majority of the races taking place on Jyllandsringen . In addition to the Djursland ring , the championship will also take place in Padborg Park near the German-Danish border. The only foreign race took place on the Sturup Raceway in Sweden until 2009 . In 2010, some races will be held jointly with the Swedish Touring Car Championship and the Scandinavian Touring Car Cup will be awarded. The DTC is also a guest at the Göteborg City Race and the Ring Knutstorp in Sweden.
There are also other national racing series at the start as part of the supporting program of the racing weekends, such as Den Blå Avis MC600 (motorcycle), the Danish Clio Cup, Advan Cup and Volkswagen Polo Cup, as well as Formula Ford . The internationally known Danes John Nielsen , Jan Magnussen , Jason Watt and Kurt Thiim are also regularly on the road in the DTC.
Points are awarded after each of the three races on the racing Sundays according to the scheme 20-17-15-13-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 for the first 15 racers.
From 2011 the series was combined with the Swedish Touring Car Championship to form the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship . The Scandinavian Touring Car Cup was held together as early as 2010 .
From 2012 there will be a follow-up series with the Danish Thundersport Championship. Only Chevrolet Camaros are used, like the Camaro Cup in Sweden.
