Casper Elgaard (born April 5, 1978 in Aarhus ) is a Danish racing driver .

Career in motorsport

Casper Elgaard began his career in karting and celebrated his first successes in a Danish junior championship as a 14-year-old. After switching to monoposto racing, Elgaard first drove in Formula Ford . In 1998 he was second overall behind Jesper Carlsen in the Danish championship and overall seventh in the German (Master Walter Lechner junior ).

In 2000 he switched from Formula Ford to touring and sports car racing . He became a regular starter in the Danish Touring Car Championship , which he finished four times as overall winner after finishing second in 2003 (behind Jan Magnussen ) - in 2004 , 2005 , 2006 and 2010 . By the end of the 2015 racing season, he had competed in 27 international sports car races. He celebrated one overall and three class victory. He achieved overall victory together with his compatriots John Nielsen and Hayanari Shimoda at the Spa-Francorchamps 1000 km race in 2005 . The emergency vehicle was a Zytek 04S . Between 2001 and 2011 he contested the Le Mans 24-hour race eight times ; best place in the final classification was seventh place in 2007 with Fabrizio Gollin and Christophe Bouchut in the Larbre Compétition - Aston Martin DBR9 . In 2009 he won the LMP2 class together with Emmanuel Collard and Kristian Poulsen in a Porsche RS Spyder and was tenth in the overall standings.

He returned to Danish touring car racing in the 2010s and won the Danish Thundersport Championship in a Ford Mustang in 2014 and 2015 .
