Steve Zacchia (born August 15, 1982 in Yverdon-les-Bains ) is a Swiss racing driver .

Career in motorsport

Steve Zacchia began his career as a racing driver in kart racing, where he won several Swiss championships in different classes in the late 1990s. In 2001 the following first races in Formula Renault and in national French sports car races in the Peugeot 905 Spider . The Monopostokarriere of Zacchia was short-lived. After only one year in Formula Renault, in 2002 he only competed in GT and sports car races .

After finishing eighth overall in the French Porsche Carrera Cup in 2002, he entered the FIA GT Championship in 2003 . In the same year he also made his debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans . As a partner of Patrice Goueslard and Christophe Bouchut he finished the race in one of Larbre Compétition reported Chrysler Viper GTS-R in 16th overall. He competed in Le Mans three times in total. He dropped out in 2008 and 2011 , so that 15th place in 2003 was his best result in the overall ranking.

He celebrated his first major international success in 2004 when he and Bouchut and Pedro Lamy won the overall ranking of the GTS class of the European Le Mans Series . In addition to appearances in various national GT championships, Zacchia remained particularly active in the Le Mans Series. In 2008 he finished tenth in the LMP2 class and in 2009 13th in the LMGT1 class. In 2010 he finished second overall in Formula Le Mans .

Zacchia has not contested any races since the end of the 2011 season, but has not officially resigned.
