Hiroki Kato
Hiroki Katō ( Japanese 加藤 寛 規 , Katō Hiroki ; born February 23, 1968 in Isehara ) is a Japanese racing car driver .
Career
Katō began his racing career in 1994 in the Japanese Formula 3 Championship on a Dallara F393 . He drove in this championship for four years and in 1998 he was second overall in the championship. In 1999 he switched to Formula Nippon and came to Europe for the first time to take part in the Le Mans 24-hour race . The race ended prematurely with a defect in the BMW V12 LM .
In the early 2000s, he switched to sports cars and finished second overall in the Japanese Super GT Championship in 2006 and 2007 .
His best place at the 24 Hours of Le Mans was fifth in 2000 on a Panoz LMP-1 .
