Manuel Quiroga Losada
Manuel Quiroga Losada (born April 15, 1892 in Pontevedra , † April 19, 1961 ) was a Spanish violinist and composer .
Life
Encouraged by his family, he first began violin studies in Madrid and continued in Paris. In Paris he had intensive contacts with the composer-violinists George Enescu , Eugène Ysaÿe and Fritz Kreisler , who had a decisive influence on him. At the age of 19 he was able to finish his studies at the Paris Conservatory with a First Prize. Eugène Ysaÿe dedicated the 6th solo sonata for solo violin op.27 to his pupil.
In 1937, at the age of 46, he suffered an accident in New York City in which he was so badly injured that he was unable to perform publicly as a violinist. From then on he only devoted himself to composing.
