Lucas Ordoñez Martín-Esperanza (born May 1, 1985 in Madrid ) is a Spanish automobile racing driver . He started in the Japanese Formula 3 championship in 2015 .

Career

Ordóñez began his motorsport career in karting . However, he had to end his karting career in 2001 at the age of 16 due to a lack of budget. He then devoted himself to studying. In 2008 he took part in the GT Academy , a competition between Sony and Nissan , who held virtual car races on the PlayStation and promised to take part in a real car race as a prize. Ordoñez prevailed with another participant against 25,000 candidates and received a "real" racing cockpit at the 24-hour race in Dubai in 2009. Among other things, the former Formula 1 driver Johnny Herbert was his teammate. He then competed in the GT4 European Cup for two seasons . On the first race weekend he already achieved a podium finish. He finished the first season together with his teammate Alex Buncombe in second place in the championship. The two won two races. In 2010 he formed a team with Jordan Tresson , who won the GT Academy a year after him, and achieved fourth place overall with him.

In 2010 Ordoñez also made his debut in the Le Mans prototype . He took part in a race in the Le Mans Series in the LMP2 class. In 2011 Ordoñez received an LMP2 cockpit from Signatech-Nissan in an Oreca 03- Nissan in the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup . Together with Soheil Ayari and Franck Mailleux , he won the LMP2 classification of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup in the first four races. One of these four races was the 2011 Le Mans 24-hour race . There they achieved ninth place overall and came second in the LMP2 classification. Since the vehicle in front of them was not registered in the LMP2 in the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, they were classified as winners of the LMP2 classification of this race in this series. At the season finale, Ordoñez won the LMP2 classification of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup again with Mailleux and Jean Karl Vernay . Her team achieved overall victory in the LMP2 classification. Mailleux and Ordoñez were the pilots who scored the most points in the LMP2 classification. Ordoñez was also rookie of the year. In 2012 Ordoñez moved to Greaves Motorsport in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS). There he formed a team with Alex Brundle and Tom Kimber-Smith and competed in a Zytek Z11SN with a Nissan engine. For the third and final event, he was replaced by Buncombe. In addition, he competed for Greaves Motorsport together with Alex and Martin Brundle in two races of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). In October 2012 he took part in the Petit Le Mans together with Gunnar Jeannette in the DeltaWing . He finished the race in fifth place. Ordoñez also went to a race in the Blancpain Endurance Series .

In 2013 Ordoñez contested the entire Blancpain Endurance Series season for the Nissan GT Academy Team RJN. He had changing teammates. In one race he won the Pro-Am classification together with Buncombe and Peter Pyzera . At the end of the season, he decided the Pro-Am rating for himself. In addition, he completed four of five races in the FIA GT series and finished tenth in the Pro-Am classification. He contested other GT races this year in the Pirelli World Challenge , the Super GT and the VLN Endurance Championship Nürburgring . Ordoñez drove in the LMP2 car for Greaves Motorsport in 2013 at the Le Mans 24-hour race , which was part of the FIA World Endurance Championship . Together with Michael Krumm and Jann Mardenborough , he achieved ninth place.

In 2014 Ordoñez drove in the Super GT for NDDP Racing with B-MAX . With Kazuki Hoshino he won the GT300 classification once. Ordoñez and Hoshino finished the season in fourth place in the GT300 classification. He contested the 24 Hours of Le Mans for Nissan Motorsports in an experimental vehicle that was not classified in any class. In 2015 Ordoñez stayed at B-MAX and made his debut in formula racing . He started in the Japanese Formula 3 championship . He did not appear at an event. With three second places as the best results, he reached fifth place overall. Ordoñez also started the season in the Super GT for Kondo Racing in the GT500 class. After the third race he was replaced by Krumm. Ordoñez also received a Nissan LMP1 factory cockpit at the Le Mans 24 Hours .
