Roald Goethe

Roald Goethe (born March 2, 1960 in Hamburg ) is a German entrepreneur and racing car driver .

Entrepreneur

Roald Goethe is active in the oil and raw material trade. From 1994 to 2005 he worked as a trader at Trafigura . After a period of self-employment, he returned to Trafigura in November 2016 in a leading position. He took over responsibility for the entire Africa business.

Career in motorsport

Roald Goethe is a collector of historic racing vehicles and came to current motorsport through racing with these vehicles. Among other things, he drove a Ferrari Dino 246F1 at the Bahrain Classic 2009. After his first appearances in the VdeV Endurance Challenge Renault Clio Cup in Magny-Cours , he began regularly to contest GT races from the 2010 season . After a year with a Lamborghini Gallardo , he switched to GT racing cars from Aston Martin in 2012 . Goethe acquired the respective chassis, which were then assembled at Prodrive and used by Aston Martin Racing .

Goethe started in both the European and American Le Mans Series and drove in the Blancpain Endurance Series . Goethe competed three times in the GTE-Am class of the Le Mans 24 Hours and once in the Sebring 12 Hours . In 2015 he had a serious accident when he was pushed aside by the eventual overall winner Nico Hülkenberg in a Porsche 919 Hybrid while lapping and crashed hard into a wall just before the start and finish line. Goethe spent some time in the hospital, but was able to recover completely and continue his career.

Roald Goethe is married, has two children and lives in Monaco and Dubai .
