Francesco Castellacci

Francesco Castellacci (born April 4, 1987 in Rome ) is an Italian racing driver . Together with Federico Leo, he became FIA GT3 European Champion in 2011 . In 2012 he competes in the FIA GT1 World Championship .

Career

Castellacci began his motorsport career in 2006 in formula racing . He started in Formula Azzurra and finished eighth in the drivers' championship. In 2007 he competed for Alan Docking Racing in the British Formula 3 Championship . He remained without points and reached the top 20 only twice. In 2008 Castellacci moved to Lucidi Motors in the Italian Formula 3 championship . While his teammate Mirko Bortolotti won the championship, Castellacci was on the podium six times. He was without a win. He finished fourth in the drivers' championship. In 2009 he started for the Prema Powerteam in the Italian Formula 3. He was beaten internally by Daniel Campos-Hull , who finished fifth, and finished the season in eighth place. A third place was his only podium finish of the season. 2010 Castellacci began his third season in the Italian Formula 3 Championship for RC Motorsport . He did not take part in two race weekends and only scored once with a sixth place. In the final account he reached 18th place. In addition, Castellacci made his first experiences in GT racing. He took part in several races in the Italian GT championship and the German Porsche Carrera Cup and made guest starts in the Porsche Supercup .

In 2011 Castellacci switched completely to GT racing. He was given a cockpit in a Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 at AF Corse . Federico Leo became his teammate. The two won one race and finished three races in second place. With 111 to 102 they prevailed against Mike Parisy and became European champions. In 2012 , Castellacci stayed with AF Corse and became a driver in the FIA GT1 World Championship . He drives a Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 again. Enzo Ide is his teammate.
