Weiron Tan
Weiron Tan (born December 3, 1994 in Kuala Lumpur ) is a Malaysian racing driver .
Career
Tan began his motorsport career in karting in 2008 , where he remained active until 2011. Among other things, he finished eighth in the Asia-Pacific Kart Championship in 2011. In 2011 Tan also made his debut in GT racing and won the Lotus SuperCup Asia GT4 and the Malaysian Super Series. In addition, Tan completed four guest starts in formula racing for EuroInternational 2011 in the JK Racing Asia Series . In 2012, Tan played the first four events of the JK Racing Asia Series for EuroInternational. With two third places as the best results, he was seventh in the championship.
After Tan was active in some races of the Formula Gulf 1000 in the winter of 2012/13 and won his first formula racing there, he moved to Fortec Motorsports in the British Formula Renault in Europe . With five wins, he finished second in the championship. With 331 to 408 points he was defeated by Chris Middlehurst . In 2014 Tan drove for Van Amersfoort Racing in the German Formula 3 championship . Tan won twice and finished the season in fifth place overall.
In 2015 Tan moved to North America for the Pro Mazda Championship . For Andretti Autosport , he initially started in the winter series. He was always on the podium in the five races. He won twice and came third three times. In the drivers' championship he was defeated by Jack Aitken with 166 to 167 points and was second overall. In the subsequent main series, he scored four wins and reached fourth place in the overall standings. In 2016 Tan contested the first four races of the Pro Mazda Championship for Team Pelfrey . Then he left the championship. He then drove in Europe at three European Formula 3 championship events for Carlin . He also contested two races in endurance racing in the Asian Le Mans Sprint Cup .
In the 2016/17 season, Tan drove for Aylezo Ecotint Racing in the Asian Le Mans Series (AsLMS). He was tenth in the LMP3 ranking.
