Harrison Newey (born July 25, 1998 ) is a British automobile racing driver . He has been competing in the European Formula 3 championship since 2016 .

Career

Newey began his motorsport career in karting in 2009 , where he was active until 2014. At the end of 2014 he made his debut in formula racing and took part in three races of the French Formula 4 championship . He then drove for HHC Motorsport in the autumn championship of the BRDC Formula 4 Championship . In 2015 Newey stayed with HHC Motorsport in the BRDC Formula 4 Championship. Newey won two races and was second overall with 455 to 592 points behind his teammate Will Palmer . In addition, Newey took part in six events in the German Formula 4 championship for Van Amersfoort Racing in 2015 . With a fifth place as the best result, he reached 16th place overall. In the winter of 2015/16 Newey competed in the MRF Challenge Formula 2000 . He scored three second places and finished the season in fifth place.

In 2016 Newey stayed with Van Amersfoort Racing and switched to the European Formula 3 Championship . He finished the season with a sixth place as the best result in 18th place overall. In 2016/17 Newey competed again in the MRF Challenge Formula 2000. He won the title with seven wins and two other podium finishes ahead of Joey Mawson , who was tied on points . In 2017 Newey competed again with Van Amersfoort Racing in the European Formula 3 championship.

Personal

Newey's father Adrian Newey works as an engineer in Formula 1 and, as technical director, was responsible for several world championship titles.
