Fahmi Ilyas

Fahmi Ilyas (born March 17, 1992 in Kuala Lumpur ) is a Malaysian racing driver . He competed in the British Formula 3 Championship in 2011 and 2012 .

Career

Ilyas began his motorsport career in karting in 2008 . Just one year later he transferred to the single-seater racing and entered the Pacific Formula BMW at. He won a race and finished the season with a total of four podium finishes in fourth place in the championship. He also made four guest starts in the European Formula BMW. 2010 Ilyas started the season with two guest starts in the Pacific Formula BMW. He then moved to Europe and took part in the first six racing weekends of the European Formula BMW for DAMS . With two podium finishes, he finished the season in 13th place in the championship.

In 2011 Ilyas moved to Fortec Motorsport in the British Formula 3 Championship . With a sixth place as the best result, he finished the season in 18th place in the championship. He also competed for the West-Tec team on two race weekends of the European F3 Open . In doing so, he managed to win his debut race. In addition, he achieved a second place. He was twelfth in the drivers' championship. In 2011 he also took part in a Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup event. In 2012 Ilyas switched to Double R Racing within the British Formula 3 Championship . He left the series prematurely and did not take part in the last two events. He finished the season in eleventh place.
