Richard "Spike" Goddard (born August 17, 1992 ) is an Australian racing driver . He started in the European Formula 3 championship in 2013 and 2014 . In 2013 he used a British license.

Career

Goddard began his motorsport career in 2010 in formula racing . First he started in the Victorian Formula Ford , a regional racing series in Australia. He was third in the overall classification.

In 2011 Goddard decided to move to Europe and received a cockpit for the British Formula Ford at Jamun Racing . While his teammate Scott Malvern won the championship, Goddard reached tenth place. He also took part in the Formula Ford EuroCup, a series without an overall ranking. In 2012 Goddard moved to ThreeBond Racing | ThreeBond with T-Sport in the British Formula 3 Championship . He started in the rookie class with an older vehicle. He won these in 12 of 28 races and won them. He also took part in three races in the Formula 3 Euro Series as a guest starter .

In early 2013 , Goddard competed in New Zealand in the Toyota Racing Series for M2 Competition . Goddard finished the season in 17th place in the drivers' standings while teammate Nick Cassidy won the championship. Goddard then returned to Europe to join ThreeBond with T-Sport . For the racing team he competed in the European Formula 3 championship in 2013 . In this series he started this year with a British license. Two 14th places were his best results. In addition, Goddard started at a British Formula 3 event. He achieved a second place. In 2014 Goddard contested his second season in the European Formula 3 championship for Threebond with T-Sport . This time he started with an Australian license. Goddard scored points for the first time and a ninth place was his best result. He finished the season in 23rd place in the drivers' championship. In addition, Goddard took part in a Formula 1 test day for Force India in 2014 .
