Bart Hylkema

Bart Hylkema (born December 30, 1989 ) is a Dutch racing driver . He is a brother of the racing driver Thomas Hylkema . In 2011 he competed in the British Formula 3 Championship .

Career

Hylkema began his motorsport career in karting , where he was active until 2007. In 2008 he got into formula racing . Starting for Koiranen Bros. Motorsport , he finished eleventh in the northern European Formula Renault . In 2009, Hylkema moved to Motopark Academy and improved to tenth place in the championship in the Northern European Formula Renault. After making two guest starts in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup in 2009, he entered this series in 2010 and returned to Koiranen Bros. Motorsport. While his teammate Kevin Korjus won the overall standings, Hylkema was sixth as the second best driver on his team. His best results were two third places. He also completed two race weekends in the Northern European Formula Renault and finished sixth in the ACNN Toyota Aygo Cup .

In 2011 Hylkema switched to T-Sport in the British Formula 3 Championship . He entered the first half of the season in the rookie classification and won it 11 times in 15 races. In the second half of the season he started in the international class and finished 23rd overall at the end of the season. He finished second in the rookie classification.
