Thomas Hylkema

Thomas Hylkema (born August 20, 1988 ) is a Dutch racing driver . He is the brother of the racing driver Bart Hylkema . He competed in the GP3 series in 2011 .

Career

Like most motorsport enthusiasts, Hylkema began his career in karting , where he was active until 2005. In 2006 he initially competed in touring car racing and was 14th in the BRL Light . In 2006 he moved into the single-seater racing and ended his first season at the 20th place in the German Formula BMW . In 2008 he switched to the British Formula Renault and finished 17th in the championship and the subsequent winter championship. He also took part in two races each of the Western European Formula Renault and Formula BRL . For the next two years, Hylkema stayed in the British Formula Renault and competed for Manor Competition . After finishing 16th overall in 2009, he finished the 2010 season in 14th place. He also took part in two Italian Formula Renault races in 2009 and finished fourth in the British Formula Renault winter championship.

After Hylkema had participated in GP3 test drives before the 2011 season , he entered the championship for Tech 1 Racing for the third race weekend . He replaces Andrea Caldarelli . At the end of the season he finished 34th overall without any points.
