Hywel Lloyd (born March 14, 1985 in Corwen , Wales ) is a British automobile racing driver . He competed in British Formula 3 from 2008 to 2012 .

Career

Lloyd began his motorsport career at the age of six in motocross . At the age of twelve he switched to karting and remained active in this sport until 2005. In 2006 he switched to formula racing . Starting for CF Racing , he immediately finished fifth in the BARC Formula Renault . He also took part in some British Formula Renault races. In 2007 he won the championship title of the BARC Formula Renault, as well as their winter championship.

In 2008 Lloyd switched to the Formula 3 team of CF Racing and started in the national class of the British Formula 3 championship . Lloyd won the national ranking once and took third place in the national class. In 2009 he rose to the championship standings of the British Formula 3 and drove into the points in several races. He finished the season in 13th place overall. In 2010 , Lloyd contested his third season in British Formula 3. With a fifth place as the best result, he finished 15th in the drivers' championship. He also participated in two race weekends of the 2010 season of the Superleague Formula in part. He competed for the PSV Eindhoven team supervised by Reid Motorsport . His best placement was eighth. In 2011 Lloyd started again in the British Formula 3. He switched to Sino Vision Racing . With a fifth place as the best result, he was 16th overall. With 34 to 5 points he prevailed clearly against his teammate Adderly Fong this season . In 2012 Lloyd took part in a British Formula 3 Championship event for CF Racing. He won the rookie classification in every run.
