Antoni Millàs i Figuerola (* 1862 in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat , † 1939 in Barcelona ) was a Catalan architect of modernism .

Biographical data

Antoni Milàs studied in Barcelona and received his title of architect in 1888. Early on he developed an architectural style that combined Catalan modernism with eclectic elements. An outstanding example of this is the Casa Francesc Farreras (1902, also called Conjunt de tres edificis ), a group of three houses with a sandstone facade from Montjuïc, richly decorated with various bay windows, balconies and floral patterns. The asymmetrical corner facade is interesting, with a tower-like round bay window on the left and a smaller triangular bay on the right corner. On the ground floor is the well-preserved Farmàcia Mestre, one of the largest modernist pharmacies in Barcelona. Also of interest is Casa Maldonado (or Casa Ferrer Cuyàs, 1914), equipped with a tower-like bay window that protrudes one floor above the roof edge and a mosaic frieze on the last floor of Lluís Brú ii Salelles . In 1911 he drafted an urban development plan for the Artigas district in Badalona .
