The 2020 FIA Formula 3 Championship is the second season of the FIA Formula 3 Championship . It began on July 4th in Spielberg and ends on September 13th in Mugello .

Changes 2020

Sporting regulations

The starting grid for the second race was adjusted, so the first ten of the first race swapped the order. In the sprint race, the winner of the main race starts from tenth position, the second from position nine to fifth, which remains unchanged due to the order. In addition, the top ten now receive points in the sprint race, the winner receives 15 points, the second twelve, the third ten points up to the tenth placed, who receives the last point.

In 2020, ten teams with three vehicles each will be competing in the FIA ​​Formula 3 Championship.

Racing calendar

In 2020, nine racing weekends were to be held as part of the 2020 Formula 1 World Championship supporting program.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the races in Bahrain, Spain and Russia have been postponed. The race in the Netherlands is canceled. Adapted to the calendar of the Formula 1 World Championship, there will be 2 double laps in Austria and Great Britain. The season ends on September 13th in Mugello . The races in Bahrain and Russia are canceled.

Point system

In the main race (HAU), the first ten of the race get 25, 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 or 1 point (s). In the sprint race (SPR), the first ten of the race receive 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 or 1 point (s). In addition, the winner of the qualifying, who starts from pole position in the main race, receives four points. The driver who achieves the fastest lap of the first ten classified drivers receives two points.
