Frederik Vesti

Frederik Vesti (born January 13, 2002 in Filskov ) is a Danish automobile racing driver . He won the first season of the Formula Regional European Championship in 2019 . From 2020 he will drive in the FIA Formula 3 Championship .

Career

Karting

Frederik Vesti started taking part in kart series in 2011 and won a regional kart series in 2012. In 2013 and 2014 he won several Danish kart championships and took part in various other karting events.

Formula racing

In 2016, Vesti joined the Danish Formula Ford racing series and, as a newcomer, immediately achieved fourth place with a win in Djursland . In 2017 he competed in the Danish, US and German Formula 4. In the Danish racing series he finished second, 48 points behind Daniel Lundgaard , but skipped two race weekends. In Germany he finished seventh with Van Amersfoort Racing , in America he only competed at the last event in Austin . In 2018 Vesti started again in Germany and at the same time took part in an Italian Formula 4 event in Le Castellet and as a guest starter in the European Formula 3 at the Hockenheimring . In the German Formula 4 he achieved fourth place with two race wins.

In 2019 Vesti switched from Van Amersfoort Racing to the Italian Prema Powerteam and competed in the new Formula Regional European Championship racing series . He was able to win 13 races in 24 races and thus secure the championship with a 131 point lead over his closest rival Enzo Fittipaldi .

For the 2020 season, Vesti has a starting place for the FIA ​​Formula 3 Championship with Prema. In February, Danish media reported that Vesti had refused entry into the Red Bull Junior Program after criticizing the harsh contract conditions for young drivers.
