The Russian Grand Prix ( Russian Гран-При России) is a Formula 1 race that has been held at the Sochi Autodrom in Russia since 2014 .
history
In the Grand Prix seasons of 1913 and 1914 , two Russian Grand Prix were held in Saint Petersburg . After the outbreak of the First World War and the Russian Revolution , there were no motorsport Grand Prix held in Russia for 100 years . In 1983 a Grand Prix of the Soviet Union was planned, which made it into the provisional racing calendar but was not held in the end.
After all, a Russian Grand Prix has been held as part of the Formula 1 World Championship since the 2014 season. The site of the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi was chosen as the venue . The racetrack was completed in August 2014.
The first winner was Lewis Hamilton in a Mercedes . He was able to repeat this success in 2015 and 2018. The other two events in 2016 and 2017 also won Mercedes drivers with Nico Rosberg and Valtteri Bottas .
