As a Grand Prix of Styria , a race for the Formula 1 World Championship has so far been held in Spielberg in the Murtal district in Styria .

history

Due to the rampant COVID-19 pandemic , various races of the 2020 Formula 1 World Championship have been canceled or postponed. On June 2, 2020, the Formula 1 organizers published a revised racing calendar with two races within one week on the Red Bull Ring . Since there can only be one Grand Prix per country per season , a different name is usually chosen for the second race if there are two Grands Prix in the same country. The organizers therefore chose the name Grand Prix of Styria for the event on July 12, 2020 , while the event on July 5, 2020 was known as the Grand Prix of Austria .

The first - and to date only - staging of the Styrian GP was won by Lewis Hamilton ahead of Valtteri Bottas , his team-mate at Mercedes , and ahead of Red Bull driver Max Verstappen .
