The Grand Prix of the 70th anniversary of Formula 1 (officially Emirates Formula 1 Grand Prix 70th Anniversary in 2020 ) took place on August 9, 2020 and was the fifth Formula 1 -race the season in 2020 and the second Grand Prix on the Silverstone Circuit in the UK this season.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic , various races of the 2020 Formula 1 World Championship have been canceled or postponed. On June 2, 2020, the first part of a revised racing calendar was published, which included eight races on the European continent. It was envisaged that two races would take place at the Silverstone Circuit in the UK. Since there can only be one Grand Prix per country per season , the second race was called the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix , while the first race at Silverstone was, as usual, the Great Britain Grand Prix . The name of the second race was based on the fact that the first Formula 1 race that was part of the world championship took place on May 13, 1950 in Silverstone .
