The Hungarian Grand Prix 2018 (officially Formula 1 Rolex Magyar Nagydíj 2018 ) took place on July 29th at the Hungaroring in Mogyoród and was the twelfth race of the 2018 Formula 1 World Championship .

After the German Grand Prix , Lewis Hamilton led the drivers' standings with 17 points ahead of Sebastian Vettel and 57 points ahead of Kimi Räikkönen . In the constructors' championship, Mercedes was eight points ahead of Ferrari and 99 points ahead of Red Bull Racing .

At the Hungarian Grand Prix, Pirelli provided the drivers with the tire compounds P Zero Medium (white), P Zero Soft (yellow), P Zero Ultrasoft (purple), as well as Cinturato Intermediates (green) and Cinturato Full Wets (blue) for wet conditions .

Marcus Ericsson , (seven), Romain Grosjean , Kevin Magnussen , Kimi Räikkönen , Max Verstappen (five each), Pierre Gasly , Brendon Hartley , Sergei Sirotkin , Lance Stroll (four each), Sergio Pérez , Vettel (three each), Nico Hülkenberg , Daniel Ricciardo , Carlos Sainz Jr. (two each) and Stoffel Vandoorne (one) went into the race weekend with penalty points.

With Hamilton (five times), Vettel (twice), Fernando Alonso , Räikkönen and Daniel Ricciardo (once each), five former winners competed in this Grand Prix.

Race stewards were Lajos Herczeg (HUN), Tim Mayer (USA), Vincenzo Spano (VEN) and Derek Warwick (GBR).
