The Hungarian Grand Prix was the 13th GP in the 2006 season. Jacques Villeneuve was sacked after the German Grand Prix and was replaced by Robert Kubica.

training

Fernando Alonso received a 1-second penalty in the first practice session because Robert Doornbos stopped Alonso and Alonso slowed Doornbos before Turn 1. In FP1 he got another 1-second penalty because he overtook Doornbus under a yellow flag. In FP2, Jenson Button's engine went up and he had to switch it off - but under a red flag, Schumacher overtook Kubica and Alonso and was given a 2-second time penalty.

Qualifying

In qualifying Kimi Raikkonen took pole in front of Massa and Barrichello.
