Timothy Theodore "Tim" Schenken (born September 26, 1943 in Sydney , New South Wales ) is a former Australian automobile racing driver . After winning the British Formula 3 Championship in 1968 , he competed in Formula 1 a total of 34 times from 1970 to 1974 .

Career

The highlight of his Formula 1 career was third place at the Austrian Grand Prix in 1971 , and he was also able to collect a total of seven championship points.

In addition to Formula 1, Schenken drove sports car races and in 1972, together with Ronnie Peterson, won the 1000 km race on the Nürburgring for Ferrari .

Tiga Race Cars

In 1974 Schenken founded the British motorsport team Tiga Race Cars, which existed until 1989, together with the former New Zealand Formula 1 driver Howden Ganley . He is currently the annual race director for the Australian V8 Supercars Championship Series and the Australian Grand Prix , which he has directed since 1987.
