Vallelunga 400 km race in 1977

The 400 km race of Vallelunga 1977 , also Trofeo Ignazio Giunti, Vallelunga , took place on June 2 at the Autodromo Vallelunga and was the seventh round of the sports car world championship of that year.
The race
The race in Vallelunga was the third Group 6 race in the 1977 World Sports Car Championship and the third time that an Alfa Romeo works car won . With the Alfa Romeo T33 / SC / 12 , the factory drivers dominated the racing events at will. The only competitors in the 3-liter class were a privately reported Alfa Romeo T33 / TT / 3 and the Lola T282 of Lella Lombardi , both had no chance in the race. Vittorio Brambilla and Arturo Merzario quickly moved away from the field, Giorgio Francia was the only one who was able to follow them in the 2-liter Osella PA5 . At the finish Brambilla was one lap ahead of his teammate Merzario and two laps over Francia.
