Alfa Romeo T33 / SC / 12

The 500 km race of Dijon 1977 , also 500 kms de I'ACF, Dijon-Prenois , took place on April 17th on the Circuit de Dijon-Prenois and was the 3rd round of the sports car world championship of that year.

The race

The season of Group 6 cars in the World Sports Car Championship began with the 500 km race in Dijon. After only one year of use, the abandoned factory team of Porsche on the regular use of the Porsche 936 . Alfa Romeo made a return to series production . Their team Autodelta brought the last evolutionary stage of the Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 to the start. The Alfa Romeo T33 / SC / 12 had a box-shaped chassis. The 3.0-liter 12-cylinder boxer engine developed 520 hp. The competition had no chance from the start of the race. Arturo Merzario and Jean-Pierre Jarier won superiorly. The second car by next Vittorio Brambilla the Brabham - Formula 1 -Pilot John Watson drove failed after an engine failure.
