Fred Stalder
Fred Stalder (born March 30, 1942 in Moutier ) is a former French racing car driver and racing team owner of Swiss descent.
Racing Organization Course
In the early 1970s, Fred Stalder founded an engine construction and engine tuning company in Annemasse on Lake Geneva , which later became the Racing Organization Course . The company first became known as a motor tuner. The 2-liter ROC engine, developed from a Simca - Chrysler 4-cylinder in- line engine , developed almost 300 hp and was a popular racing engine in the 1970s and 1980s.
The racing team was successful in sports car racing and was active until the 2000s. Volkswagen came to the Le Mans 24 Hours for the first time with ROC . The Reynard 2KQ was powered by a Volkswagen 4-cylinder in-line engine HPT16 2.0L Turbo in 2000 and 2001 .
Racing career
Fred Stalder's driving career began in the early 1970s. In 1971 he drove in the French Formula Renault Championship and finished the season behind Michel Leclère , Alain Serpaggi , Jannick Auxéméry , Alain Cudini , Jacques Laffite and Roger Dubos in seventh place in the final standings. After a few unsuccessful assignments in Formula 2 , Stalder turned to sports car racing in 1973 .
Until the end of his driving career with the end of the 1977 season, Stalder was a driver and team boss in personal union. He then focused on running his company until he retired. He competed three times as a driver in the Le Mans 24-hour race, but was never able to classify himself. He achieved countable results in the European Sports Car Championship . In 1974 he finished fourth overall in a Lola T294 at the Trophée d'Auvergne , the 2-hour race in Hockenheim and the 2-hour race in Jarama .
