Ernst Berg (born June 14, 1947 ) is a former Dutch racing driver and entrepreneur.

Racing career

Ernst Berg was active in touring and sports car racing in the 1960s and 1970s . He drove in the European Touring Car Championship , where his best placement was seventh in the 1978 RAC Tourist Trophy at the Silverstone Circuit . In addition to his regular appearances in the Dutch touring car championship, he also competed in some races in the sports car world championship . In 1977 he achieved a podium finish when he and Alain de Cadenet finished third overall in the 500 km race in Dijon on a Lola T294S .

A start at the 24-hour race at Le Mans is on the books for Ernst Berg. In 1977 he went into the race with Ian Harrower , Martin Birrane and Richard Down on a Lola T290 / 4S . Due to the lack of covered distance, the quartet was not classified.

Entrepreneur

After the end of his driving career, Ernst Berg founded a bodywork company in Zaventem that specialized in converting closed vehicles into convertibles . Ernst Berg Systeme converted Renault 5 and Lada Samara into convertibles , among others . In 1996 the company had to file for bankruptcy.
