The 300 km race on the Salzburgring in 1977 , also known as the Salzburg Festival Prize (Elan Trophy), Salzburgring , took place on September 18 on the Salzburgring and was the 14th round of the sports car world championship of that year.

The race

As expected, the Alfa Romeo T33 / SC / 12 also dominated the race on the Salzburgring. It was the eighth consecutive victory in the Group 6 racing car championship. In order for the winning Alfa Romeo - Trailer 1977 all championship races. For the first and only time, a T33 / SC / 12 with a 640 hp V12 engine with two turbochargers was used. Arturo Merzario achieved second place overall with this racing car. The Alfa Romeo triple victory ended the long service life of the Tipo 33 series in the sports car world championship. What began with Andrea de Adamich and Teodoro Zeccoli at the 12-hour race in Sebring in 1967 , Vittorio Brambilla ended with his victory at the racetrack near Salzburg .
