Le Castellet 500 km race in 1977
The 500 km race of Le Castellet 1977 , also 500 km Paul Ricard, Le Castellet , took place on July 24th at the Circuit Paul Ricard and was the eleventh round of the sports car world championship of that year.
The race
In the Group 6 race car race at Le Castellet , Alfa Romeo was able to add another overall victory to its previous successes. Arturo Merzario and Jean-Pierre Jarier won two laps ahead of Jörg Obermoser and Pierre-François Rousselot in the TOJ SC302. The two Group 5 cars, which finished eighth and tenth overall, had no chance. The eighth-placed Porsche 935 driven by Martino Finotto and Romeo Camathias was already ten laps behind .
