Hervé Bayard (born November 20, 1944 in Amiens ) is a former French motorcycle and car racing driver who also has Belgian citizenship.

Racing career

Hervé Bayard began his motorcycle racing career in the 1960s . The first racing motorcycle was a 175 cm³ Moto-Morini 175 Settebello. In 1963 he was runner-up in the French 175 cc championship. In the middle of the decade he switched to motor racing. In 1966 he drove in the French Renault 8 Gordini Cup and in 1969 for a season in the French Formula 3 championship . This was followed by races in the European Formula 5000 Championship in 1971 and 1972 .

Bayard celebrated great successes in mountain racing . Between 1982 and 1993 he was Belgian mountain champion ten times. Seven times he won the Mountain Championship of Luxembourg and in 1970 on a Formula 2 - Tecno French.

In the late 1970s he competed in sports car races and competed four times in the Le Mans 24-hour race . His best place in this 24-hour race was finishing 18th in 1972 .
