1981 Silverstone 6 hour race
The 1981 Silverstone 6-hour race , also known as the Silverstone World Championship 6 Hours, Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit , took place on May 10 at the Silverstone Circuit and was the sixth round of the sports car world championship of that year.
The race
The Silverstone 6-hour race was one of the drivers and manufacturers' championships in the World Sports Car Championship in 1981. Jochen Mass achieved the fastest training time in a Porsche 908 registered by Reinhold Joest , which competed in the class for sports cars with a displacement of up to 2 liters. In the race, the Joest team had no racing luck, because Mass had an accident on the wet track on the first lap.
The race won Walter Röhrl , Dieter Schornstein and Harald Grohs with the projection of two laps on the BMW M1 by Derek Bell , Steve O'Rourke and David Hobbs .
