Jürgen Lässig
Jürgen Lässig (born February 25, 1943 in Tuttlingen ) is a former German automobile racing driver .
Career
Largely unknown to a larger motorsport community, Lässig was one of the best German sports car drivers of the 1980s and 1990s. He was at the start 16 times in the 24-hour race of Le Mans and was only twice less than Hans-Joachim Stuck in this endurance race, which with 18 starts is the German with the most participations in the Sarthe.
His greatest success in motorsport celebrated Casual 1995 when he with a Kremer K8 Spyder together with Giovanni Lavaggi , Marco Werner , Christophe Bouchut and Oscar Larrauri the 24 Hours of Daytona won.
He made his Le Mans debut in 1981 as a partner of Edgar Dören and Gerhard Holup in a Porsche 935K3 . The trio had to give up after driving 47 laps after an engine failure. In the same year, the trio won the 1000 km race in Monza . Two years later, Lässig made it into the top ten of the overall standings for the first time when he finished seventh in a Porsche 956 from Obermaier Racing and with Axel Plankenhorn and Desiré Wilson as partners.
In 1986, again in the Porsche 956 from Obermaier Racing, he finished fifth and a year later he achieved his best result at Le Mans when he finished second in the Primagaz Porsche 962 .
Lässig made it into the top ten seven times at Le Mans and was considered a specialist in the Porsche 962, which he had driven for many years. With this model he was also at the start in many sports car races apart from Le Mans and Daytona.
After the 1997 Le Mans race, which he had to end prematurely after an engine failure on the Kremer K8, he announced his retirement from motorsport.
