Suzuka 480 km race in 1990
The Suzuka 480 km race in 1990 , also known as the FIA WSPC - Fuji Film Cup, Suzuka Circuit , took place on April 8 at the Suzuka International Racing Course . The race was the first round of the sports car world championship this year.
The race
As in the previous year , the Sauber-Mercedes C9s registered by Sauber won the first race of the season in the World Sports Car Championship . Again there was a double victory and again Jean-Louis Schlesser and Mauro Baldi were the overall winners. Second was veteran Jochen Mass , who shared the cockpit of the C9 with the young debutant Karl Wendlinger . Schlesser and Baldi had to start in the replacement C9 because the new vehicle, the Mercedes-Benz C11 , had an accident during training.
