IC 1216 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sc in the constellation Draco the northern sky . It is estimated to be 348 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 100,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 1215 and IC 1218 .
The type II supernova SN 1997da was observed here.
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on August 2, 1888 .
