IC 1223 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SB in the constellation Hercules in the northern sky . It is an estimated 406 million light years from the Milky Way and about 105,000 light years in diameter .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on July 11, 1890 .
