IC 1228 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBab in the constellation Dragon in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 348 million light years from the Milky Way and about 165,000 light years in diameter .
In the same area of ​​the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 6214 .

The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on September 13, 1890 .
