Frank Jelinski (born May 23, 1958 ) is a German automobile racing driver .

Career

Jelinski drove kart races from 1973 to 1978 . In 1979 he became German Super VW Champion. In 1980 and 1981 Jelinski was German Formula 3 champion for Bertram Schäfer Racing . In 1982 he was active with the same team in the Formula 2 European Championship ; the team used Maurer Motorsport cars privately . In 1983 he switched to the World Sports Car Series (WSC), where he stayed until 1990 and won various racing victories, including the 1000 km from Spa-Francorchamps in 1986 , the 1000 km from Dijon in 1989 and the Norisring race , the German Super Cup . In 1986 the team also won the title of world sports car champion. In 1990 he switched to the German Touring Car Championship , where he drove for Audi until the end of 1992 . At the same time, however, he continued to drive sports car races, especially in the USA, until 1995 . Jelinski has interrupted his (pre-) retirement as a racing driver for the Heilbronn motorsport team Live-Strip.com Racing and since 2006 has been regularly participating in races within the framework of the Nürburgring long-distance cup and in the 24-hour races on the Nürburgring. Frank Jelinski worked at VPA GmbH, a driving instructor training facility in Kirchheim / Teck, until the end of 2010.
