Kenneth Henry "Kenny" Acheson (born November 27, 1957 in Cookstown , Northern Ireland ) is a former British automobile racing driver who drove in Formula 1 for the RAM Racing team in 1983 and 1985 .

Career

Acheson only crossed the finish line in his first race. In 1985 he drove as a substitute for Manfred Winkelhock , who had a fatal accident during the season. Between 1988 and 1992 he took part in the Le Mans 24-hour race for different teams every year . While he failed to qualify for the main race in three years, Acheson was able to finish the race on a podium three times; 2nd place each: 1989 with Mauro Baldi and Gianfranco Brancatelli in a Sauber C9 and 1992 with Masanori Sekiya and Pierre-Henri Raphanel in a Toyota TS010 and a 3rd place in 1991 with Bob Wollek and Teo Fabi in a Silk Cut Jaguar .

He contested his last race in 1996 at the Daytona 24-hour race , when he was uninjured in a serious crash, but subsequently ended his career.
