Sports car world championship 1990

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 1990 World Sports Car Championship was the 38th season of this championship. It started on April 8th and ended on October 7th.

championship

As in 1989 , Sauber was the dominant racing team of the season in 1990 . Again, the Swiss team only had to admit defeat in one championship run when Martin Brundle and Alain Ferté won the 480 km race at Silverstone in the Jaguar XJR-11 . For the first time since 1955 , there was again a Mercedes-Benz world championship car, the C11 . The way in which the world championship points are awarded has been changed to match the counting method in the Formula 1 world championship . Points are awarded as follows: 9-6-4-3-2-1. Only vehicles of the C1 class were allowed to start.

Jean-Louis Schlesser , who shared the title with his team-mate Mauro Baldi , was again driver world champion .
