Pergusa 6-hour race 1979

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Osella PA7

The 6-hour race of Pergusa 1979 , also the 19th Coppa Florio, Autodromo Pergusa , took place on June 24th at the Autodromo di Pergusa and was the tenth round of the sports car world championship of that year.

The race

The world championship run in Pergusa also showed the decline of the sports car world championship based on the number of participants. Only one works car was registered after almost all Porsche teams had decided not to participate. The plant - Lancia Beta Monte Carlo Turbo was this time by Riccardo Patrese and carlo facetti down, who drove the car after a few pit stops, made necessary by gearbox problems, in second place overall. Despite the small number of participants, the race went down in the history of the world championship because it was the first time a woman won a championship run. Lella Lombardi won with partner Enrico Grimaldi in the Osella PA7 .
