Vallelunga 6-hour race 1979
The 6-hour race of Vallelunga 1979 , also Trofeo Ignazio Giunti, 6 Ore Vallelunga, Vallelunga , took place on September 16 at the Autodromo Vallelunga and was the 16th round of the sports car world championship of that year.
The race
After her success in the 6-hour race in Pergusa , Lella Lombardi also won the endurance race in Vallelunga. This is the second time in the history of the sports car world championship that a woman has won a race. Your team partner in the Osella PA7 was Giorgio Francia . The race, for which a surprising number of reports had been received, was dominated by Giorgio Pianta and Markku Alén in the factory - Lancia Beta Montecarlo Turbo for a long time , before the car retired after 179 laps with a gearbox failure.
The event in Vallelunga was the last race of the brand world championship of this year, which ended with the overwhelming overall victory of Porsche .
