Brands Hatch 6 Hours 1979
The 1979 Brands Hatch 6-hour race , also known as the Rivet Supply World Manufacturers' Championship Six Hours, Brands Hatch , took place on August 5th at Brands Hatch and was the 14th round of the sports car world championship of that year.
The race
After his use in the 6-hour race in Dijon , Reinhold Joest reported his Porsche 908/3 Turbo again in a world championship run. And like in Dijon, the Porsche pulled its laps alone at the front. At the finish, Joest and team-mate Volkert Merl had a lead of two laps over the best Group 5 car, the Porsche 935 of Klaus Ludwig and Axel Plankenhorn . Enzo Calderari , Willi Spavetti and Rolf Maritz won the GT class in the Porsche Carrera RSR .
