Dudley Wood

Dudley Wood (born July 9, 1946 in London ) is a former British racing driver .

Career

Dudley Wood was a regular at international sports car races between 1979 and 1990. It made its first international appearance at the 6-hour race at Silverstone in 1979 , a race in the sports car world championship of that year . Wood drove a Porsche Carrera RSR together with Barrie Williams and finished the race in ninth place overall. Three months later he was tenth in the Brands Hatch 6-hour race, which is also part of the World Championship .

In 1981 he achieved his best World Championship result when he and his partner John Cooper finished the Mugello 6-hour race behind the duo Giorgio Francia and Lella Lombardi in second place overall.

Wood competed nine times in the Le Mans 24-hour race and was able to classify in the top field several times. He was fourth in 1981 , fifth in 1986 and ninth in 1987 . The only outing at the Sebring 12-hour race ended in 1986 with a retirement.
