The Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia took part in the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal with a delegation of 88 athletes (83 men and 5 women) in 52 competitions in 14 sports.
The Yugoslav athletes won two gold, three silver and three bronze medals. Olympic champions were the canoeist Matija Ljubek in the single canoe over 1000 meters and the wrestler Momir Petković in the middleweight division of the Greco-Roman style. The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the handball player Hrvoje Horvat .
