Brazil took part in the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal with a delegation of 79 athletes (72 men and 7 women) in 48 competitions in twelve sports.

The Brazilian athletes won two bronze medals. The athlete João Carlos de Oliveira came third in the triple jump as did the sailors Reinaldo Conrad and Peter Ficker in the Flying Dutchman . João Carlos de Oliveira was also the flag bearer at the opening ceremony.
