Brazil took part in the 1952 Summer Olympics in the Finnish capital Helsinki with 97 athletes, 5 women and 92 men, in 51 competitions in 14 sports.

It was the sixth participation of a Brazilian team in the Summer Olympics since 1920 . The youngest athlete was the athlete Sylvio dos Santos (17 years and 14 days), the oldest athlete was the marksman Harvey Villela (53 years and 358 days).

The basketball player Mário Jorge carried the flag of Brazil during the opening ceremony in the Olympic Stadium .
