Ireland took part in the 1952 Summer Olympics in the Finnish capital Helsinki with 19 male athletes in 18 competitions in six sports.

It was Ireland's fifth participation in the Summer Olympics since 1924 .

Flag bearer

Paddy Carroll carried the flag of Ireland during the opening ceremony in the Olympic Stadium .

With a silver medal won the Irish team finished 34th in the medals table .
