Ireland took part in the 2004 Summer Olympics in the Greek capital, Athens, with 46 athletes, 14 women and 32 men.

Since 1924 it was Ireland's 18th participation in the Summer Olympics .

Flag bearer

The rider Niall Griffin carried the flag of Ireland during the opening ceremony in the Olympic Stadium .
